Job Description

Global Operations supports markets to ensure they have operational solutions and consulting resources that solve the needs of today, while looking ahead to our future.
This position sits within the Global Operations team working out of the Chicago West Loop headquarters and reports into the Director, Global Operations Strategy and Standards. A successful candidate will support corporate functional teams, Global Operations stakeholders and global markets focused on continuous improvement and innovation efforts.
Business questions or topics supported could include kitchen operations/production optimization, operations procedures, restaurant capacity/efficiency planning, and operational impact of shifting trends in consumer behavior.
The role will work cross-functionally with teams across global operations, data science, restaurant experience and market stakeholders.
Position Purpose
  1. Support Global Operations team members to frame business challenges and opportunities, leveraging data and simulation to test potential solutions.
  2. Analyze and evaluate existing operational systems and processes to find opportunities for enhanced efficiency, increased capacity, and more consistent performance.
  3. Utilize existing simulation processes, procedures, and tools to support work across Restaurant Experience Team and Global Market partners.

The ideal candidate will be:
  • Curious to learn the details of McDonald's current restaurant operations
  • Knowledgeable in Operations, Process Design, Modeling and Simulation, Data & Analytics
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex processes
  • Ability to use and incorporate quantitative data as part of larger narrative
  • Comfortable working with large sets of data and performance analytics
  • Ability to work independently within tight timelines & competing demands

Principal Accountabilities
  • Build, maintain and produce discrete event simulation models to support Global Operations, functional partners, and global markets.
  • Support process design and data analytic requests for cross functional projects and global market engagements
  • Utilize process mapping and principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to support operations development.
  • Collaborate on opportunities to improve throughput, capacity, and customer experience and prevent waste and inefficiency
  • Provide insights and tools to support Global Operations continuous improvement efforts
  • Support the development of valid and reliable innovation lab tests and in-restaurant tests
  • Maintain the global service/production process documentation (e.g., process flows, time and motion studies, engineered standards, etc)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Management Science or related field
  • Minimum 2 years business experience with executing process design and simulation/testing efforts
  • Expertise with Simio Simulation Software preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous process improvement processes, methods, and programs, such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean, 5S and the appropriate application of each
  • Big Data Analytics skills: Querying languages (SQL, Postgres), open source data/analytics languages (Python), experience with data analytics platforms (Alteryx), ability to use data visualization tools (Tableau)
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Periodic travel to company locations in the U.S. and internationally for consulting, training or data collection (less than 20% travel commitment)

Salary Range
Salary Range: $87,050.00 - $108,810.00 per year
