Responsibilities:
- Support account teams in daily activities – learn Edelman’s various consulting processes/approaches, including integrated communications, media relations, consumer engagement, trend monitoring, brand collaborations, social media and digital campaigns, and support account teams in the execution of these processes for clients
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the public relations industry and its basic principles
- Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers, and competitors
- Provide client service administration, including preparing client status and activity reports, attending meetings and conference calls, compiling media and competitor coverage, coordinating media outreach, press events scheduling, and logistics as well as press mailer kits
- Research, outline, write, edit, and proofread materials, including press materials (e.g. key messages, fact sheets, press releases) awards, and social media content
- Support planning and execution for earned media strategies, inclusive of research, analysis of media coverage and online conversations, and integration with support agencies
- Demonstrate a general knowledge of how media outlets are using social media tools and eager to incorporate them into our work
- General knowledge of media landscape including outlets and reporters, media list development
- Build a network of multicultural and mainstream media and industry influencer contacts and support in media outreach, securing stories and tracking results
- Help craft and deliver culturally relevant strategies, pitches, media materials, and recaps
- Have your finger on the pulse with social trends and cultural happenings and proactively identify and develop, fresh story angles and opportunities for clients to take part
- Collaborate with creative, influencer and strategy teams for ideation and to ensure earned angles, as required
- Manage projects using organizational skills, working with colleagues, vendors, and support agencies, and keeping project leaders apprised of status
- Help supervise interns/trainees and provide ongoing, constructive feedback
- Demonstrates basic understanding of financial concepts at the project level, understands agency billing and invoicing procedures, and assists project managers on tracking and monitoring financials
- Learn about Edelman’s various capabilities and contribute ideas about how to improve them and develop new capabilities
- Participate in the new business process, as necessary, including research, audits, and preparation of proposals
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement of your technical and leadership skills
- Demonstrate being a detail-oriented communicator with an energetic presence and entrepreneurial spirit. We’re looking for someone who is media savvy, collaborative, hungry to learn and try/recommend new tactics
Basic Qualifications:
- At least one year of relevant experience in Multicultural, Consumer Communications, Marketing, and/or Public Relations
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous agency experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft office
- Strong research, writing and editing skills and the ability to develop media contacts/relationships
- Proven experience pitching and securing earned stories across online, broadcast, print and/or social media (food/consumer media a plus!)
- Passion for applying cultural insights to strategic and creative thinking
- Positive, collaborative attitude
- Strong interest in food, beverage, and lifestyle sectors
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) writing and editing skills preferred
- Experience in multicultural media or influencer relations is a plus
- Solid grasp of all basic public relations tools (MuckRack, Cision, or Meltwater) and how they are used to achieve client goals
- Fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments and the ability to apply experience and initiative in developing appropriate traditional and online media strategies
- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines
